Loredana Peca is a biologist and researcher at the Medical Genetics Department, UMF Cluj-Napoca. She graduated from the Faculty of Biology and Geology at the Babeş-Bolyai University in 2000. She attended the Master’s program “Cell Biology and Molecular Biotechnology” at the same faculty, followed by an international training course at the Center for Biological Research of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Szeged, Hungary. There she started her doctoral studies in the field of molecular biology, on biosensors and heavy metal resistance mechanisms in cyanobacteria. She obtained her PhD in 2010, after which she returned to Romania where she worked for 2 years at the Biological Research Institute of Cluj-Napoca, in the “Green Energy” project, on the conversion of solar energy into hydrogen by photosynthetic microorganisms. During maternity leave, in order to expand her expertise, she enrolled in the Master’s program “Genetic Counseling” at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences at the Babeş-Bolyai University from 2013 to 2015. The next two years she worked as a scientific curator of medical genetics literature at the Ingenuity Systems, Qiagen. In 2017 she was offered the chance to return to research, this time in the field of genetic immunology as a postdoc researcher in the HINT project. The results of the research are found in 4 Thompson ISI-Web of Science indexed articles (including 2 as the first author), 2 BDI articles (of which one as the first author) and a collective volume study at Springer Publishing House (h-index Google Scholar = 5).
